EFFECT:
One effect is to have a spectator mentally think of a playing card. That 'thought'gets recorded on the blank back of a "business"card while your back is turned. The spectator then places the card, writing side down, on the table so no one can see what he wrote. You then ask that a case containing a deck of playing cards be placed on top of the business card, in case some of the printing may show through. You then turn around and try to purloin his thought. Having thought you may have, you pick up the card case and remove the cards. You go through the deck, remove one card and lay it, face down, on the table next to the down turned business card. The rest of the deck and case is put on the side. You ask the spectator to name his here-to-fore only thought of card! He does and turns over the business card to prove he has not changed his mind. He now turns over the face down playing card and they match! You have plucked his thought right out of his mind.
Another effect is to have a picture drawn on a pad such as a 'pocket note pad'or larger 'steno pad'. This is done as you turn your head aside or the spectator stands away. As he finishes he closes the pad and lays it on the table. You have a pad in your hand ready to try to draw whatever thought you feel he has in his mind. Having a little trouble you place your pad down on his as you try harder by placing your finger tips on the side of his head. Having felt you may have a little better luck, you pick up your pad, open it and start to draw your thoughts. You ask the spectator to pick up his pad, open it and show the audience his drawing. You turn yours around and they are a close match!
